McDaniel is a humble individual who values family. His father passed away when he was young, leaving his mother to raise him alone. He credits her with being the reason for his success and believes she’s the sole reason he exists today.

McDaniel was instrumental in building the San Francisco 49ers’ running game during his tenure there, coaching Elijah Mitchell and Deebo Samuel to become two of the league’s premier rushers. He has been able to achieve all of this because of the unconditional love and support from Mike McDaniel parents. They ensured he had every opportunity possible to grow up into the best person possible.
